Childhood & Nostalgic
The concept for this project was to create an illustration that directly references a story, article, place, product, service, or process. I chose to redesign a book cover for the book, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter. I also chose to illustrate a spot illustration that would go on the title page. The original book cover featured watercolor images, so I wanted to create a more vibrant illustration.

Techniques & Style
I used various shades of color to help build depth within my piece as I did not feature any line art. I wanted my illustration to have the grainy and textures look that is featured in many children’s book covers. I used contrasting colors to help highlight the main character. I also wanted to create emphasis on the vegetation and nature that is around the scene to create the setting.

Personal Connection
TThis artwork is very special to me as I always loved this book growing up. Not only did I love the story, I loved the illustrations that were featured in the book. These were watercolor drawings that helped bring the book alive. I wanted to revamp the book by including my own art style and embrace a more vibrant color palette.
